Communication barriers

During the communication process can be somewhat difficult to communicate effectively, and these difficulties are classified as:

Semantics: when there is ignorance or a misunderstanding about the meaning of words because some of them officially have multiple meanings, so the sender can send to specific meanings, and the receiver decode differently or do not understand.

Physical: the circumstances presented in the environment and do not allow good communication. For example, noise, lighting, distance, failure or deficiency of the means used.

Physiological: this barrier is encouraged in participating in either the transmitter or receiver, and may be deafness, low voice, speech defective and / or vision problems, thus spoiling the communication.

Psychological: those which relate to the psychological situation of the sender or receiver, meaning the level of appreciation or rejection of the parties or even to the message. On the other hand, the deficiency of communication may also be due to emotional states (fear, sadness, anger, joy) of subjects and / or prejudice to approve or disapprove the message.

The importance of organizational communication

For members of an organization can perform their work and to optimize the results, there must be effective communication and good communication helps to achieve the acceptance of policies, receive the cooperation of others, make the ideas and instructions of others are clearly understood and even improve the work environment. The communication need will always exist, but that does not mean that everyone has the ability to communicate. The ability to achieve efficient communication will be gaining little by little to the extent that people become aware that it is a more complex process than it seems, as are human beings involved, and for that simple reason there will never be individuals same, with the same ideas, the same experiences, the same knowledge, the same injury, the same ideologies, opinions, values, etc. All this mix of circumstances that we live in our lives are those that are shaping our personality and what makes us unique.

It is common to make judgments and infer communicate things that are not, for example, “greeting because I do not like me wrong” or “did what I asked because he is angry with me,” are such circumstances that often make us act on the defensive with that person and therefore impede communication. For this reason it is important to know not only the process to implement new forms of communication more efficient within the company but also to know ourselves and with the help of psychology and other sciences work on those aspects that prevent good communication. As for being an interdisciplinary science can not be addressed from a single perspective.

We must all learn to be prepared to intelligently manage conflicts with our neighbors, otherwise these conflicts can cause feelings of insecurity, exclusion, irritation and frustration. The fact is that the behavior of individuals between passivity and aggression, and assertive behavior is between these two extremes. With assertiveness can foster a respectful interpersonal communication, empathy and more efficient, and once people understand assertiveness quickly appreciate their value in promoting the development of healthy concepts like self-esteem.
